The Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 (left) is a re-invention in a more up to date (i.e larger) size of the original piece made by Vacheron for an American collector in 1921. The original model is very rare, and only 12 pieces are believed to have been produced and sold over a 10 year period between 1921 - 1931.

This style of watch, with an offset angled dial and crown at the usual 1 o’clock position, is known as a Driver’s watch. The reason for this is because when worn by a gentleman on his left wrist (as is/was seen as the correct wrist for a man to wear their wristwatch) the angle of the watch will be straight on when steering the wheel of your favourite vintage Mercedes.

I think I’ve reblogged this already.  But I’ll go ahead and reblog it again.
